Position Overview

Join our team as a Surgery Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.

Carolina Veterinary Specialists - Matthews in Matthews, North Carolina, combines cutting-edge veterinary medicine with a close-knit team environment, delivering high-quality specialty and emergency care while prioritizing professional growth and support.

About the Role

Our surgery nursing team partners closely with our surgeons, supporting all aspects of surgical and patient care—including elective, emergency, and specialized procedures.

Schedule: 4-day work week with rotating shared on-call.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of veterinary anesthesia experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-centered environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics and surgical assisting
  • Anesthesia administration, monitoring, and intervention
  • Patient recovery and client education
  • Venipuncture, catheterization, surgical prep, lab sample preparation, and more

Ideal Candidate

  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • At least 1 year of anesthesia induction, administration, monitoring, and recovery experience
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Able to sit/stand for long periods; occasional bending/kneeling; lift up to 40 lbs unassisted
  • Solid foundational technical skills (venipuncture, catheter placement, lab work, anesthesia, pharmacology)
